Celebrities keep flocking to this Devon cafe

Harbourside café’s celebrity guest list grows as Bad Education and Strictly Come Dancing star joins its roll call of famous visitors

Torquay’s Lighthouse Continental Café Bar has once again proven it’s something of a magnet for famous faces – this time welcoming Bad Education and Strictly Come Dancing star Layton Williams.

The harbourside café, opened in 2017 by musical theatre fan Gary Salter, has built a loyal following not just among locals (and their four-legged companions) but also among celebrities passing through the Bay.

Over the years, it’s played host to TV favourites the Hairy Bikers, comedian and presenter Paddy McGuinness, and actor-comedian Rob Brydon. Now, Williams adds his name to the Lighthouse’s ever-growing roll call of star visitors.

Gary, whose love for musicals is matched only by his affection for four-legged customers, says the appeal lies in the café’s friendly, relaxed atmosphere and prime harbour views – though the coffee and continental treats no doubt help seal the deal.
