Fair pulls out all stops to make day extra special

Children were given a special day out at the fair and Torquay United mascot Gilbert the Gull joined in the fun.

A ‘fantastic morning’ was had at Fair Play Day on Torre Abbey Meadows, which was officially opened by civic mayor Hazel Foster, joined by Cabinet Members Cllrs Jackie Thomas, Nick Bye and David Thomas, along with Gilbert.

The morning gave SEND and looked-after children the chance to enjoy the fair in a more suitable environment, with rides slowed down and music reduced to make the experience more sensory-friendly.

Cllr Jackie Thomas said: “Huge thanks to the fair’s DeVey family for their incredibly generous sponsorship. Their support is very much appreciated, and the smiles on the children’s faces said it all.”
