Rowing - Torbay clubs shine in Thatcher Rock Offshore Race

Torbay rowers lead the way in the Thatcher Rock Offshore Race
Torquay Rowing Club hosted the third regatta of the Coastal Rowing League staging the Thatcher Rock Offshore Race.
The event offered two courses for different disciplines, a six kilometre course from Haldon Pier to Thatcher Rock and back for the main events and also a four kilometre course. The club also offered the full range of coastal rowing events to clubs attending from all along the south coast. Conditions were excellent with calm water on a sunny warm day.
There were some excellent results for Torquay Rowing Club with Barbara Mears winning the Women’s over 60 single sculls category; the Under 18 coxed quadruple sculls crew of Sophie Evans, Millie Baxter, Will Jackson-Heritage, Isla Canning and cox, Ian Wilson, winning their race; Barbara Mears and Ian Wilson winning the Mixed over 60 double sculls; Nick Gull and Ricard Duran second in the Open double sculls; and Will Jackson-Heritage and Sophie Evans were third in Mixed double sculls.
