Top triumph for Torbay Spring Triathlon

Amazing performances in the Torbay Tri

In the Torbay Spring Triathlon, hosted by Sportiva Events at Torbay Leisure Centre over multiple distances, Donald Brooks from Torq Fitness took first place.

There was another top podium position today for Ben Flowers from the Torbay Tri Club, taking the win in the super sprint, which is 400m swim, 10.5k bike ,2.5k run

Making her debut in the same event, Katie Giles smashed her target of sub 60 minutes to finish in 54 mins19 secs. Matt Giles was also making his debut in the super sprint event, 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run, completing the distance in an impressive time of 1hr 14mins 09secs.

Brighton Marathon

The first of the big marathons of the season kicked off in Brighton with up to 20,000 taking part. Torbay Tri club member Tiberius T Cash was up to the challenge, and despite a hampered preparation, finished in 5hr 15mins 36secs, high up in the Vet 60 standing.

Prague half marathon

This event is one of the Europe's biggest half marathons with over 16,000 people running, Steve Hookins made the trip to the beautiful city and had a successful day finishing in 2 hours 8mins.

Powderham power 10m

A bit closer to home in the stunning setting of Powderham Castle, a 10-mile multi-terrain event put on by City runs, Kate May has come back strongly from her injury setback, to finish on the podium, third lady, in a swift time of 1 hour 26 mins 10 secs.

Puerto Carmen music 10k

Back overseas, this time to Lanzarote in the sunshine, where Debbie Bruman stood proudly on top of the podium and currently leads the overall ladies’ series standings. She was first lady home in 41mins 04secs,15th out of 121 runners

Masters swim champs

This event took place in Bodmin and Club member Peter Hayward had a very busy day competing in three events, all backstroke. First was the 50m in 40secs, then 100m in 1min 25secs, followed by the 200m in 3mins 10secs. It was gold all the way for Peter, taking the victory in all three races.

Dartington 10mile time trial

This cycling event put on by Mid-Devon Cycling Club was over an undulating course in gusty conditions. Chris Tye was first back in 29mins 20secs, closely followed by Peter Hayward in 32mins 24secs and Lorraine Gibbins in 37mins 26secs.
