Padel Tennis Open Day a huge success

Padel Tennis, the fastest growing global format of the racquet sport family, has well and truly landed at Torquay Lawn Tennis Club.

On Saturday, the club introduced their high spec new Padel Courts to the Bay public with a superb Open Day, with beginner, intermediate and advanced workshops, and some great food on offer in the spring sunshine.

Padel follows the skills required in conventional tennis but a far more forgiving format of the sport, which has seen its popularity develop massively in the last few years. Contact the club on 01803 209500 to see if you can give it a try.

Away from the Padel Courts, Torquay Tennis Club’s Men’s Tennis Team have won the Regional Stage of the National Premier Doubles League and have qualified for the National Premier League Finals at St George’s Hill Tennis Club in Surrey later this year!

This is a fantastic achievement for the club, well done and congratulations to the team, captained by Pete Avis. Congratulations to the players and good luck in the finals: Pete Avis, Buzz Avis, Ben Tyrell, Ben Greatrex, Joel Greatrex, Tom Sanderwick, Oliver Sutton, Ashley Morris and Panayot Popov.
