Brixham welcomed thousands of pirates for a swashbuckling bank holiday festival of cannon fire, skirmishes and shanty music. One of the biggest pirate gatherings in the world, Brixham Pirate Festival featured a visit by El Galeon, a replica 16th century

Providing music for the event - which began in 2002 as a community event to liven up one of the quietest bank holidays of the year - were shanty crews including Midsummer Gurnards, Old Gaffers, Shanty Men of Devon, Pluckateers, The Steepholmers, Cask, The Sea Gals, Wrecked Again, Missing Tackle, All Hands on Deck and Out of Tunas.
