New homes set to rise in Paignton as Wain Homes begins Bay Rise development
A major new housing development delivering 101 homes is set to begin construction in Paignton this July, bringing a mix of private and affordable housing to the Preston area as part of wider growth across the English Riviera.
Award-winning housebuilder Wain Homes will begin construction of 101 new homes in Paignton this July, following the acquisition of land off Preston Down Road.
The 9.2-acre development, named Bay Rise, will form part of the wider housing expansion in the Preston area of Torbay, within the English Riviera.
The site will deliver a mix of two, three and four-bedroom homes from Wain Homes’ new Ascend collection, with nearly a third of properties allocated as affordable housing.
Each home will include the company’s all-inclusive specification as standard, featuring contemporary fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, fitted wardrobes, turfed rear gardens and flooring throughout.
The first properties are expected to be released for sale in spring 2027, with initial completions anticipated later that year.
Steve Goldsworthy, regional managing director at Wain Homes, said the development reflects the company’s commitment to creating sustainable communities across the South West.
He added that Bay Rise will provide a “high-quality mix of new homes for the local community”, alongside affordable housing, green spaces and designs aimed at modern living.
Wain Homes, which is headquartered in Exeter, was recently named Home Builder of the Year at the 2026 Sunday Express Construction and Property Awards.
The company has been building homes for more than 50 years and currently has eight active developments across Devon and Cornwall.
