BREAKING: Boxing Day Walk into the Sea cancelled

Paignton Lions Club has cancelled its popular Boxing Day Walk into the Sea event due to severe weather conditions forecast for the coast.

Torbay Lifeboat advised organisers that east to north-east gale force winds (Force 7) and large swells are expected at Paignton Beach on Boxing Day, making it unsafe for the event to go ahead.

In a statement, Paignton Lions Club said the decision was made with public safety as the top priority, adding that safety would “never be compromised”.

Organisers are now exploring the possibility of rescheduling the event for New Year’s Day, although this will depend on further safety checks and weather conditions. Updates will be shared via the club’s Facebook page and website.

Anyone who has pre-booked and requires a refund is being asked to contact the club by emailing contact@paigntonlions.org.uk.

Paignton Lions Club thanked supporters for their understanding and wished the community a Merry Christmas.
