Brixham gears up for CrewFest ’25 harbour celebration

Torbay RNLI’s crew-led festival returns with local food, live music and a harbour rescue display

Brixham gears up for CrewFest ’25 harbour celebration

Torbay RNLI’s crew-led food and music festival, CrewFest ’25, will take over Kings Quay in Brixham on Saturday 16 August from 11am to 10pm.

The event offers locals and visitors a chance to meet the lifeboat crew and thank them for their work — with 26 callouts and 24 people aided in July alone, 2025 is already proving a busy year.

Supported by Inter-Line Building Supplies, Bays Brewery and Havills Electrical Services, the festival will feature local food, drink, live music and family activities. Crew members will be cooking scallops, cuttlefish and golden fillets with volunteer chef Owain Rees, alongside The Pig Apple’s hog roast, Camplins Cakes’ home bakes, and cream teas served by crew families. Bays Brewery will serve its new RNLI charity ale, Ahoy, plus local cider and soft drinks.

Music kicks off at 1.30pm with Planet Uke, before headliners Freeway close the night with pop and rock covers from 8.30pm. Other performers include James Wills, Chris Thomas, Rob Hunt and The Incredible Chocolate Gorillas.

Children’s entertainment runs from 12.30pm to 4.30pm, with face painting, games and a raffle boasting 30 prizes from local businesses.

On Sunday, the action moves to Brixham Inner Harbour, where crews from Torbay, Dartmouth and Teignmouth RNLI will stage a search-and-rescue demonstration from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
