Monster rain storm approaches Torbay

Torbay is set to be battered by over 50 hours of torrential rain, with the Met Office issuing a three-day yellow weather warning.

The rain warning tarts at 9pm this evening and continues until the end of Friday (11:59).

Some parts of Devon will miss the worst, but heavy rain will become more extensive Wednesday night and especially Thursday, with some flooding impacts.

What should be expected:

  • Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closure
  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • There is a small chance of fast-flowing or deep floodwater
  • Where flooding occurs, there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services
