Torquay's Princess Theatre has pulled off a major coup and landed a show which is bound to have the 'house full' signs going up quicker than the curtain rising.

The Princess has  announced that Barnum: The Circus Musical will be playing the Torquay stage in August next year as part of its UK Tour.

Matt Rawle (Cabaret, Evita, Les Misérables) will take centre stage as the legendary 19th century showman P.T. Barnum.

This spectacular production, directed by Jonathan O’Boyle and choreographed by Oti Mabuse, of Strictly Come Dancing fame, will feature an extraordinary ensemble cast of over 20 actor-musicians, acrobats and amazing circus acts.

The Princess says: "Audiences are certain to delight at every sight, wonder and miracle that the name Barnum stands for."

Barnum first took the UK by storm when it played the London Palladium, with Michael Crawford making theatrical history with a death-defying nightly tightrope walk across the stage. And now, Matt Rawle steps into Barnum’s shoes and on to the tightrope!

Barnum runs at the Princess Theatre from Tuesday August 25 to Saturday August 29, 2026. Ticket are on sale now at ATGTICKETS.COM/Torquay
