Community Matters: Get fired up for a spectacular evening

The Fire Ball 2025 will be held the Grand Hotel on the 1st of November

Over the last couple of years, like many organisations and groups across the country, we here at Torbay Communities have had to seriously up our fundraising efforts.

From ABBA-themed silent discos to nautical cream teas aplenty (one at sea during a cruise around the bay, the other accompanied by sea shanties at Berry Head Hotel) we’ve been trying new ways to help continue funding our community support efforts. One of these, last year, was our first ever ball at the Grand Hotel in Torquay, which returns this year with a fiery passion, now dubbed “The Fire Ball”

We’re inviting you all to a night of black-tie fine dining and fun, taking place once again at The Grand, on Saturday 1st November, beginning at 7pm, with carriages at midnight. What’s on offer? Your ticket includes a welcome drink and three course meal, with a fantastic line-up of activities and entertainment, all generously supported by our principal sponsors for the evening, Taylor Wimpey and Rockfish.

For starters, we’ll have fire juggling courtesy of Elfic the juggler & jester, with Casino Select’s fun casino, the Tap & Snap photobooth available throughout the evening. Later, an auction packed with fabulous items, plus, we’ll have raffle tickets aplenty on hand, so more than one opportunity to try your luck for a variety of prizes, with every penny spent helping us continue our work, bringing thousands of local residents together.

On our main stage, The 60s Explosion, a classic booted and suited three-piece band, will be providing the evening’s music, with hits from the 60s and beyond, accompanied by the comedy-vocal double-variety act Lorna and Laister, who will be our compères for the occasion.

Tickets are currently on sale on line at the Torbay Communities website – pop over to www.torbaycommunities.com, and you should see a great big banner at the top of our homepage with a great big green “Book your tickets” button. From there, you can browse the menu for the three-course meal, and place your booking for either individual tickets, which are £55 each, or if you’re considering coming en-masse, tables of ten can be booked for £495, effectively working out at a discounted rate of £49.50 a head (or your tenth person going free!)

You can place your food orders during the online booking process, but as we appreciate this can be a lot of admin-work for our attendees (particularly if you are indeed coming en-masse) food orders are currently optional during the online booking process. However, the deadline for booking tickets and any details, including food orders, is midnight, 12th October, so we’d need your orders one way or the other by the same deadline. To do so, please give me a ring on either 07799125848 or email mattsaunders@torbaycdt.org.uk

We hope to see you on 1st November, all fired up for a spectacular evening.
