It's annual National Volunteers’ Week and this year Devon Air Ambulance will be proudly celebrating the charity’s 650-strong network of volunteers.

The campaign takes place on the first Monday of June every year and is an opportunity for organisations to recognise, celebrate and thank the volunteers that make a difference in their local communities.

It also highlights the diversity and unity of volunteering, fostering connections and celebrating the spirit of volunteering.

According to the Royal Voluntary Service and NCVO, 14.2 million people in the UK have formally volunteered at least once a month and volunteering has added £4.6 billion in productivity gains to the UK economy in 2024. Devon Air Ambulance estimate that volunteer hours saved the charity over £1million in 2023, which is equivalent to the cost of 242 lifesaving missions.

Volunteer Manager at Devon Air Ambulance, Vicky Thresher said, ‘We are looking forward to National Volunteers’ Week which this year, we are closing with a special celebration event for our many volunteers.

"Our Founder and Life President Ann Ralli will be personally thanking our incredible Devon Air Ambulance volunteers for everything they do to keep our service operational.’

‘By donating your time to our charity, you can gain new skills, broaden your experience, boost your confidence and make new friendships.’

‘Our mission at DAA is to create a meaningful and inclusive volunteering experience which supports time-critical care through prevention, treatment, and recovery.

‘Our volunteers are at the heart of the charity. They are lifesavers, and we are looking forward to sharing their experiences and stories throughout Volunteers' Week.’

DAA has an extensive range of volunteering roles across the organisation, from bucket collectors, retail volunteers and event volunteers, to those who give talks to their local communities and raise awareness of the charity's lifesaving work.
