Following a successful application to the Community Ownership Fund of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government for £550,000, pledges from Torbay Council and Brixham Town Council of £60,000 each and a great fundraising effort from the community, works are now in progress to undertake the vital repairs needed to keep Shoalstone safe to use for the community and all its visitors.

Operations manager Dave Thomas said: “We have appointed a project manager, the planning application is in, and the design is being finalised. Preliminary investigatory works are under way and a date set for July to begin the works in earnest. The pool itself will be closed from sometime in June until October, but the site remains open, with access to Shoalstone beach, the green and picnic area and Shoals Restaurant.”
