Pier Point falls short of top spot but celebrates triple success

Torquay's award-winning Pier Point Bar, Restaurant and Takeaway team have come away from the national Fish and Chip Awards in London with their heads held high again.

Demonstrating their dedication to excellence, the Torbay Weekly Business Awards winners have returned from the prestigious awards with yet another impressive showing.

While they didn’t take the top spot this year, they say their performance proves one thing—consistency and quality are at the heart of everything they do.

Pier Point was recognised as a Top three finalist for Community Engagement, Top Eight for Charlie James as Young Fish Fryer of the Year, and Top Five Restaurant of the Year, solidifying their reputation as one of the best in the industry.

Owner Lorraine Arnold, a previous Torbay Weekly Business Awards Inspirational Leader of the Year and Business Resilience Award winner, believes that these achievements reflect the team’s unwavering commitment to excellence.

Lorraine said: "At Pier Point, we never settle. These awards are not just about winning but about benchmarking ourselves against the best, pushing our standards higher, and ensuring our customers receive top-quality food and service. Reaching the finals on multiple occasions shows our consistency and dedication—not just to serving outstanding fish and chips but also to our community, team development, and sustainability.”

For Pier Point, entering industry awards is not just about recognition—it’s about benchmarking against the best, driving innovation, and ensuring the business remains at the forefront of the sector.

Competing at a local and national level pushes the team to continually improve, refine techniques, and deliver an even better experience to customers.

Since taking over at the start of Covid, new owners of Pier Point have gone from strength to strength, achieving remarkable recognition for quality, sustainability, and community engagement. Their achievements include maintaining their five-star food hygiene rating and earning numerous industry accolades.
