A local venue, self-proclaimed as "Torquay's oldest pub," is at serious risk of closure due to financial difficulties.

The Hole in the Wall, located on Park Lane near Torquay's seafront, has announced that it may have to close its doors if it cannot resolve its financial issues by spring.

Discussions about the pub’s potential closure began earlier this week on social media, with many expressing hope that it will remain open.

On Facebook, a spokesperson for the pub said: "As many of you are already aware, the pub has been going through some financial difficulties recently, putting us at serious risk of closure. We have been given until mid April to get our affairs in order so we will hopefully, at the very least, be trading as normal until then. Many thanks for your patience and understanding, we hope to see you soon!"

The pub told Torbay Weekly that its financial struggles stem partly from rising supplier costs and months of roadworks along The Strand.
