Prime Torbay waterfront restaurant/bar has new owners

One of the most iconic waterfront bar/restaurants in South Devon has new owners.

Let by Property agents Bettesworths, the new lease on the Boathouse on the seafront at Preston, Paignton, was completed this week in time for the summer season. 

The new lessees are Graham and Shelley Fletcher from Brixham and their business partner Ali. They all have considerable experience in the hospitality trade and are looking forward to re-establishing the Boathouse as one of the Bay’s best waterfront destinations.

The Boathouse is a very well-known and previously long-established bar/cafe/restaurant, which enjoys an enviable waterside location on the promenade with views over Torbay. The business had traded very successfully for over 20 years but closed in 2022.

The property comprises a spacious open plan bar/restaurant, an overspill restaurant/function room and a large outside commercial terrace with sea views and capacity for 100 plus covers. The property has good ‘back of house’ ancillary space with commercial kitchen and beer cellar.

Graham and Shelley said: "We are extremely excited to be taking over the Boathouse as the new owners. We have a little bit of work to do to bring the building back to its former glory, but we can assure everyone that we will be working extremely hard to have the Boathouse ready for the summer season.
