Torbay On the Move has relaunched Back to Sport 2 funding to support local clubs and communities in the Bay.
The heart of all sport and physical activity lies within local clubs, community groups, and activity providers. The Covid years had a catastrophic impact on sports clubs and participation in sport. This has not only been detrimental to people’s physical health but their mental well-being as well.
To encourage participation in sport, Torbay Council have relaunched a fund called Back to Sport 2. The fund focuses on engaging people who are less likely to use physical activity to improve their well-being.
Awards of up to £2,500 are available for clubs, groups, and activity providers to run activities to increase participation.
This scheme is part of our on the Move initiative for 2024/25. All local sports organisations are encouraged to apply for funding.
Full information, including deadlines for applications, can be found at Back to Sport 2 funding 2024/25 - Torbay on the move - Torbay Council.
Additionally, Torbay Council announced a grant fund to support local elite and talented athletes. The grant will ensure individuals can achieve their sporting dreams and inspire others on the way.
Believe to Achieve is a grant scheme aimed at supporting and encouraging talented athletes from across Torbay to keep pursuing their sporting goals and careers. The scheme is part of our commitment to support the sporting talent of tomorrow.
Training costs, travel, equipment, and competition fees can soon mount up. The grants aim to avoid these costs becoming financial hurdles that prevent athletes from achieving their full potential.
Grants of up to £1,500 (depending on level of competition) are available for training, equipment, competition fees and expenses.

Councillor Hayley Tranter, Cabinet Member for Adult and Community Services, Public Health and Inequalities, said: “Through our Torbay On The Move scheme, we are working to support and encourage more local residents to become active.
“These grants provide much needed support for local clubs and talented athletes, but also enable individuals who want to become more active more often to do so.
“I would urge anyone interested who may be eligible to apply for the grants, but hurry as time is limited.”
