Where to bank, post and pay in Torbay

As traditional bank branches continue to disappear across Torbay, banking hubs, post offices and ATMs are becoming increasingly important. Here’s where residents in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham can access essential banking and everyday services close to home.
From managing everyday banking and paying bills to sending parcels, knowing where to access these essential services across Torbay can make day-to-day errands that little bit easier.
Torquay
As banks continue to disappear off Torquay’s streets, some local residents may feel concerned about where they can access essential banking services.
Following the closure of NatWest on 108 Union Street, Nationwide Building Society, on 59 Union Street, is the only traditional bank branch left standing in Torquay.
However, in a bid to make in-person banking still accessible in the town a brand-new banking hub has just been opened by Cash Access UK.
The hub operates at Unit 2 on 78 Fleet Street in Torquay.
It is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
Here, customers are able to withdraw cash, pay in cash and cheques, check bank balances, pay utility bills and top up gas and electricity at a Post Office-operated counter.
The hub also offers a community banker service where customers are able to come and talk to their own bank about more complicated financial issues.
For example, money management, digital banking, fraud and scams advice, and bereavement and power of attorney assistance.
The community bankers work on rotation.
Monday: Monday: Santander (10am - 4pm), Tuesday: Barclays, Wednesday: No community banker available, Thursday: LLoyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Friday: NatWest
For those needing to access post office services there are nine branches across Torquay.
This includes:
Castle Circus, Sherwell Valley Road, Torre, Lymington Road, Victoria Park, Barton, St Marychurch, Chelston and Wellswood Place.
Customers are able to access a variety of services here including sending parcels and letters, accessing everyday banking services, paying bills and council tax and topping up gas meters and mobile phone credit.
You can also purchase foreign currency, buy travel insurance, renew passports and driving licences.
Several other services are also available and more information can be found on the Post Office website.
For those needing to use an ATM, there are many cashpoints located across the town.
This allows users to withdraw and deposit cash, check your available bank balance and manage your card and PIN.
Paignton
For banking, there are considerably more options in Paignton, with 5 traditional branches still open.
This includes Barclays (6/8 Palace Avenue), HSBC (7 Palace Avenue), LLoyds (2 Palace Avenue), Santander (50 Victoria Street) and Nationwide Building Society (3 Hyde Road).
It is also worth mentioning that there is a Yorkshire Building Society on 61 Hyde Road.
While Yorkshire Building Society does not provide everyday banking services, the branch does offer face-to-face assistance with savings accounts, mortgages, financial planning and insurance services.
Much like Torquay there are also many ATMs located across the town, several of which can be accessed 24/7.
For post office services there are 8 branches in Paignton.
This includes Paignton, St Michaels, Preston, Kings Ash, Preston Down Road, White Rock, Marldon and Broadsands.
Brixham
In Brixham, there are no traditional high-street bank branches.
However, the town does have a banking hub which is ideal for members of the local community who wish to access everyday banking services with in-person assistance.
The hub is located on 62 Fore Street and is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, 9am to 1pm on Saturday and is closed on Sunday.
Much like the Torquay Banking Hub, customers are able to access everyday banking services and speak to a community banker.
For Brixham this is as follows:
Monday: no community banker, Tuesday: NatWest, Wednesday: Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, Thursday: Santander, Friday: Barclays, Saturday: no community banker.
For those wishing to attend a post office, there are only 2 options available within the town: Brixham and St Marys.
This follows the closure of Cambridge Road Post Office on August 26 2026, due to operational reasons.
For those living just outside of Brixham or Paignton there is also Galmpton Post Office, operating from Stoke Gabriel Road.
There are a few ATMs located around Brixham, with the most central being Tesco Bank ATM on Fore Street.
As traditional bank branches continue to disappear across Torbay, banking hubs, post offices and ATMs remain essential in helping residents access everyday services close to home.
