Young Gulls win championships
Torquay United's first team may have suffered promotion heartbreak in a penalty shoot-out, but their under-16 side have emerged as national champions - and they did it on spot-kicks!
The young Gulls reached the final of the Junior Premier League National Championships and met Kidderminster Harriers at Gloucester City FC.
They fought back twice to draw 2-2 with two goals by Jaydon Gilbert and then won 4-3 on penalties to lift the trophy.
The side is coached by Stuart Monk, brother of former Torquay United, Southampton and Swansea City defender and successful manager Garry Monk.
Stuart is a respected coach in his own right and an important part of the Plainmoor Academy.
