A Community Fun Day, organised by Torquay United and Torbay Council’s Children’s Services Department later this month, will raise funds for a new public defibrillator at Plainmoor.
Players from the Gulls’ men’s and women’s teams will be around to meet young supporters and their families on Plainmoor Green on Friday, July 29 (1pm-7pm), when a range of stalls, football activities and several local businesses will be on hand, plus a prize raffle and the chance to win prizes.
There will be food and drink, with United’s Boots & Laces pub also open.
It follows several match-day ‘Community Days’ which United laid on inside Plainmoor last season.
United manager Gary Johnson, who underwent cardiac surgery six years ago, said: “It’s a fantastic cause.
“Everywhere needs a defibrillator – and I’m an expert on heart stuff! We really look forward to seeing everyone.”
