Torquay United believed to have signed five new players

Torquay United are believed to have agreed terms with at least four, and possibly five, new signings ahead of their return to pre-season training on Thursday.

The Gulls have kept their transfer business under tight wraps this summer, and the big silence has sparked increasing speculation about their targets.

One persistent rumour surrounds Cardiff City's 20-year-old midfielder Kieron Evans, who sources in South Wales report may be in line for a loan move to Plainmoor.

Manager Gary Johnson has called a press conference on Friday when most, if not all, should be revealed.

In addition to new signings, which will be far from the end of their business, the squad in training over the next few days is likely to be swelled by trialists.

The opening friendly is against Buckland Athletic at Homers Heath, Newton Abbot, next Friday, July 8 (7.30pm).
