In a time of great uncertainty for businesses across the globe, Torbay estate agent Amanda Ayshford has taken the brave step to realise a lifelong professional dream.  
After building over 30 years of experience working for National Corporate and Local Independent Agents, Amanda has established her own business for the people of Torbay, aptly called Amanda Ayshford Estate Agents.   
Born and raised in Paignton, Amanda has extensive knowledge of the area, and still lives locally with her husband Jeff and their two sons, Brandon and Aaron.   
The ethos of Amanda Ayshford Estate Agents is to deliver a high street service through an online platform, providing customers with a personal service from start to finish of the buying / selling process.  
“I have been in the business since 1990 and it is probably about time I branched out on my own,” said Amanda. “It is something I have always wanted to do.  
“I’ve worked for a variety of national and local agents through the years, gaining a lot of experience during that time. My last position was Sales Manager of Woods Bryce Baker Estate Agents in Preston, where I worked for 13 years.  
“I left there back in March and the lockdown period gave me a lot of time to think about the best route forward.   
“What has focussed me to set up my own business more than anything is the cultural change that has understandably seen people not want to enter high street offices anymore.  
“The estate agent industry is moving online and I am doing it all from home. It’s not like a major online organisation, more a personal service provided through the online platform, rather than in a branch or physical premises.  
“People’s habits have changed during the Covid crisis and that was the final push for me set up on my own. It is something I have dreamed about for a long time and I am so glad to have made that step.   
“I have worked in Torbay for a long time, I was born here, went to school here and you get to know a lot of people over the years. It is those contacts that have given me the inspiration to form Amanda Ayshford Estate Agents.  
“I started at the beginning of January and it’s now about navigating the realms of advertising, building a brand awareness and letting people know that there is a new option on the market.  
“The major difference I hope to provide is the personal service. Cost is also very important and I want to provide the whole package for customers.   
“I advertise on the Right Move portal, prepare sales particulars, with floorplans and photographs - everything that goes with buying or selling a home. What I can provide is the personal service from start to finish.   
“When people walk into a branch they might find they are dealing with a different person at various stages of their housing journey. I can hopefully provide them with a consistent voice and service. 
“I have already sold my first property and it’s now all about building up a healthy catalogue for my customers. It is very exciting for me personally and I look forward to establishing new relationships across Torbay.” 
As well as residential sales and valuations, Amanda is experienced in probate valuations and guiding people through the process during a difficult time.  
She is also able to arrange for an Energy Performance Certificate to be carried out on properties, which is now a legal requirement, as well as recommending local solicitor firms to deal with the conveyancing side of the process. Mortgage advice, full surveys and a 360 degree immersive tour is also available to customers.
