Title race heating up in South-West Peninsula League

Torbay Weekly

Okehampton Argyle remain top of the East Division in the South-West Peninsula League after a confident 3-0 win at home to Plymouth Marjon.

A brilliant finish from Brad Ausden, flicking the ball over his man and volleying into the net, got Oke underway and a penalty from Jake Rowe doubled the lead before half-time. Ausden headed in the third from a Luke Mortimore cross.

Torpoint and Brixham lead the chasing pack, as they both secured weekend wins. Holsworthy, Dartmouth and Ivybridge were the other victors on Saturday, while Axminster and Elburton Villa shared a 1-1 draw.

There was plenty of midweek action for Mid Devon sides, as Crediton travelled to Elburton in the Walter C Parson Cup and Cullompton Rangers hosted Elmore in the league.

Crediton are at home to Ivybridge this weekend, Elmore travel to Torridgeside and Okehampton face a visit from an unpredictable Bovey Tracey side.
