Time running out for business awards entries - Enter today

Jim Parker

Don’t leave it too late. That is the message to the Torbay business world as the deadline for entries to the first Torbay Weekly Naturally Inspiring Business Awards draws near.

Only last week Torbay Business Forum chairman Steve Reynolds urged businesses to enter.

Steve said: “It is really important that we recognise the achievements of businesses as we emerge from lockdown and the ravages of Covid and how they have battled through.

“These awards are the ideal opportunity to mark and celebrate the resilience shown by so many businesses and individuals. I would really encourage people to enter.”

The Torbay Weekly has teamed up with some key partners to recognise the sheer grit and determination shown by the business fraternity in battling their way out of the pandemic.

The majority are partners in our Building a Greater Torbay campaign which for the next 12 months will highlight all the great things happening in the Bay at the moment with millions of pounds investment from both the public and private sectors.

Some of the most interesting questions we have had about our Business Awards has been about how a company or individual can nominate another company or individual.

We are therefore formally extending the criteria to allow someone to nominate a business in any of the categories if they feel that as a business they have shown that special quality  that makes them stand out.

You may be a customer of that business or a supplier to that business. You may simply want to nominate them for another reason.

In this case you do not have to go online and complete the entry form but merely send an email to chris.coward@clearskypublishing.co.uk  – subject Business Awards – with nothing more than 100 words of why we should consider a company for that award. We will do the rest. Please let us know whether you are happy to be considered as a nominee or would prefer to remain anonymous.

The sponsors and their categories are:

  • Inspiring Employer of the Year Award – South Devon College
  • Social Enterprise Award – Torbay Council
  • Business Resilience Award – TDA
  • Best New Business Award – Wollens
  • The Safer Bay Award – The Office of the Devon and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner
  • Small Business of the Year Award
  • The award for Naturally Inspiring Innovation – Torbay Business Forum
  • Tourism Business of the Year Award – ERBID Company
  • Overall Business of the Year – Torbay Council

Entries close on May 19 with a judging panel shortlisting finalists for the black-tie awards night at the Imperial Hotel in Torquay on Thursday, June 9.
