Storms decimate women's football programme

In the Devon Women’s Football League, only one game survived the storms that battered the county before and during the weekend. The ladies of Activate and Lakeside Athletic proved that Plymouth 'maids' are a hardy bunch as they did battle on an artificial surface in the city.

Activate obviously adapted better to the horrendous conditions and they showed no mercy as they put seventeen goals into the Lakeside net without reply.

Goalscorers were former Plymouth Argyle striker Wensdy Wise with an incredible six goals, Stacey Tonkins (4), Steph Warren (2), Amy Wise (2), Becky Mc Mullin (2) and one from new signing, Maisie Godfrey.

Let's hope for better weather during the week for next weekend's fixtures

Torquay United Women’s first-team fixture at Ilminster Ladies was another victim of the storms but the Gulls will be hoping to get going again at Royal Wootton Basset Town. The TUFC Development side host Lakeside Athletic.
