Torquay United's 2019-2020 Player Of The Year poll WILL take place, thanks to the Torbay Weekly.
This year's vote could not be held in the normal way at Plainmoor, because the season was curtailed with ten games to go in the face of the Covid-19 crisis.
The awards were presented last year at the club's revived and hugely successful presentation night, where leading scorer Jamie Reid collected the coveted trophy.
Now the Torbay Weekly has offered to hold the 2020 PoY and Young PoY votes via the new paper's website, United have accepted and details will be announced shortly.
Reid followed up his 32 goals in 2018-2019 with 21 more last season and, although he has now left the Gulls, he would not be the first 'departed' player to win if he does so again. Several of United's loan players may also challenge for PoY or Young PoY, and it wouldn't be a 'first' if one of them succeeds - Port Vale's young defender Nathan Smith was a popular winner of the main award in 2016.
