Torquay United's under-18 side continued their steady progress with a 7-0 rout of Swindon Supermarine in the Gary Else League Cup at South Devon College.

Leading 5-0 at half-time in arctic conditions, the young Gulls eventually won with goals from Theo Cadby (2), Lewis Brooks (2), Sammy Stayt (2) and Harry Field against a Swindon team which is currently second in the SW Counties League.

Chris Todd's side have responded well to their 4-3 FA Youth Cup defeat at Newport County, and they are at a level where they will hope to win at least one trophy this season.

This is probably United's strongest under-18 side since their Academy was relaunched, with quality right through the side, and they can take another step towards the league title at home to Bath City this Saturday (10.30am).
