An unbeaten stand of 139 between opener Tim Western (73no) and Chris Kelmere (55no) carried Torquay to an eight-wicket victory over Bovey Tracey 2nds which sees them top of the shortened Devon Cricket League’s South Division One.

Rain reduced the target from Bovey’s 182-8 to 173 off 31 overs, and Torquay did it with nearly five overs to spare.

They travel to Abbotskerswell on Saturday.

Barton, who scored 215-8 before their game against Abbots was rained off, host Bovey.

Paignton’s five-wicket win over Cornwood was a timely boost in Premier West, ahead of a trip to Plymouth this weekend.

Spare a thought for Ryan Maunder - he hit 100 not out, but South Devon 2nds (163-6) still lost to Shaldon 2nds by six wickets in South Seven.
