Torquay United’s injured leading scorer Danny Wright has told Gulls fans: “I’ll be back to help with our promotion push.”

Former Histon, Wrexham, Cheltenham Town and Solihull Moors centre-forward Wright had hit eight goals in 16 games before suffering a hamstring tear, which required surgery, in Boxing Day’s 6-1 defeat of Yeovil Town at Plainmoor.

Wright, 36, had an operation by a top London specialist just over a fortnight ago and he says: “It was frustrating over the new year, but now the op is out of the way and my recovery is going well.

“I don’t have to wear a brace, which often happens after these ops, I’m already doing some rehab work at home and I’m feeling really positive.

“I’m hoping to be back in eight to ten weeks' time, which should mean the last two months of the season and at least a dozen big games.”
