Brixham Gig Rowing Club were delighted to present a cheque for £561.70 to Muscular Dystrophy UK, a charity they have been supporting for the last couple of years.

The monies were raised at various fund-raising events held by the club, and by a member valeting other members’ cars during the lockdowns.

This donation was on top of monies raised previously when the club has supported the charity’s annual ‘Go Orange Day.’

Muscular Dystrophy UK is a charity focusing on muscular dystrophy and related conditions and was chosen as a club member tragically lost a child to the disease.

The club has previously supported its member Bob Moulden, with a £250 donation, as he is undertaking a 365 Sea Swim Challenge, also raising monies for Muscular Dystrophy.

Bob’s is an amazing feat, especially as he is aged 68 and suffers from severe arthritis.

His challenge ended on November 14 but he can still be supported through Gofundme.com 365 Swim Challenge – Bob Moulden and every donation would be gratefully received.

Club Treasurer Paul Goddard said: “Brixham Gig Club has received financial support itself, from the local community including Rockfish restaurants, Brixham Trawler Agents and Maritime International Insurance Brokers, and appreciate how this sort of generosity helps, so it means a great deal to the members to be able to give something back when it can, and as Muscular Dystrophy UK is a charity that is doing so much to fight this terrible disease, it was felt it was well worth our support.”
