Torquay-born striker Callum Morton is relishing the chance of a Wembley final, only 12 months after sustaining a knee ligament injury.
Morton, 20, who left the Gulls as a teenager when they closed their Academy in a cost-cutting measure, is poised to play for Northampton Town against Exeter City in today's League Two play-off final (7.30pm).
After a spell with Yeovil Town, Morton is on loan with the Cobblers from West Bromwich Albion.
It was during another loan spell, at Braintree Town in the National League, that he damaged cruciate knee ligaments in 2019.
His hometown team Torquay thought they had a loan deal for Morton when he regained full fitness, but he joined Northampton at the last minute instead, making his senior debut for the Cobblers in January.
He's been a big hit at the Sixfields Stadium, and his two goals helped them turn round a 2-0 deficit to beat Cheltenham Town 3-0 in the second leg of the play-off semi-finals last week.
'We believed we could do it, and we executed our game-plan superbly,' said Morton.
