Brixham Town recovered from a first half Totnes and Dartington Reserves wonder goal to win the TCS South Devon Football League Coast and Country Division Three Cup last Thursday at Buckfastleigh Rangers.

Town had come into the game off the back of a narrow loss in the Devon Intermediate Cup final so were keen to make amends by lifting the last of the SDFL trophies.

They almost took the lead on 18 minutes when Rhys Dallow headed a free-kick on to the post.

There were one or two further chances for both sides but the game needed a spark to really get going.

Tots' Sammy Ingham provided it after 33 minutes, picking up the ball 30 yards from goal and curling a stunning effort past Cameron Atkinson and into the top corner of the Brixham goal.

The equaliser came on the hour mark. Macauley Dallow's pace took him past the Totnes left-back who brought him down in the box.

Skipper Stuart Pointon's penalty was so neatly tucked into the bottom left that it nicked the post on the way in.

That goal kicked off a ten minute spell where Brixham took control of the game.

One of their attempts ended with the ball once again in the back of the Tots net but the goal was disallowed by the referee.

Three minutes later, Town were in front. James Spriggs, under pressure from a back-pass, mis-kicked his clearance and Damien Sobota immediately capitalised, the experienced Brendan Boddy providing the finishing touch.

The next goal was pure route one. With seven minutes remaining, Atkinson delivered a pin-perfect long ball into the path of substitute Harry Chastney whose fresh legs easily carried him past his marker.

His finish, across Spriggs, looked equally effortless.

Things went from bad to worse for Tots as they ended the game a man light, the player sent off in the final minute for something he said to the referee.

To their credit, Totnes refused to throw in the towel and carved out several chances in stoppage time.

The whistle saw Brixham Town join Ilsington Villa, Ashburton and The Windmill in lifting an SDFL trophy.

It also brought down the curtain on an entertaining 'Champions League'-style divisional cup tournament and, with it, the 2020/21 season.
