Torbay Tigers under-14s had a tough game in Somerset  with North Somerset Stars winning 56-39.

Player availability led to the team heading into the match with a few experienced players missing, which led to opportunities for two debutants who both did themselves proud. Louis competed well and Dylan chipped in with six points.

Torbay Tigers went down 10-2 in the early phases but soon challenged back hard.

Scoring from Rileigh, Sam P and a hot spell from Ash clawed the gap and saw the TIgers take the lead in the second.

The boys suffered physically in the third with Sam P and Dylan both nursing knee issues.

North Somerset Stars pulled away and the Tigers were unable to bridge the gap they built in the third quarter with some impressive outside shooting.

The Tigers held the level in the fourth but began to tire. The ball just seem to drop.

In Division Three of the men's league, Torquay Trailblazers led by Captain Ben Browning took on North Devon II, Torquay had a 2&1 record in the league and North Devon II were undefeated so there was a lot to play for.

Torquay struggled to deal with the height of North Devon in the first quarter and found themselves trailing 9-15, and wasn't helped by Browning taking to the bench with a shoulder injury.

The answer was in their bench players, and Torquay chipped away at North Devon's lead and ended the half 27-23 up after a remarkable turnaround.

In the second half, North Devon once again gained a foothold, and at the end of the quarter Torquay held a slender two-point lead 35-33.

The fourth quarter started all wrong for Torquay and within three minutes they were in serious foul trouble and North Devon were going to the line on every foul.

However, the change in style of play rattled North Devon and despite the foul trouble, Torquay kept dropping baskets and ran out the quarter winning it 16-6 to win the match 51-39 and with it giving North Devon II their first defeat.

Both Torbay Tigers and Torquay Trailblazers take to the road next week with Torbay travelling to Exmouth Knights in the Inter Division I/II with Exmouth currently undefeated and Torquay take on Exeter University II in the cup competition sponsored by PRISM Painting and Decorating Ltd.
