Winning start in TCS South Devon Football League opener

Barton Athletic made a winning start following their delayed TCS South Devon Football League opener last Saturday.
Barton’s new signing Brook Ward started up front for the team in blue but it was Stephen Rohan, Dejan Maric and Shane Essam who delivered the goals in a 4-2 win at Broadmeadow STFC. Chris Bennett and Dean Coppard were Broads’ goalscorers.
There was less positive news for the Bay’s other two Premier sides.
Lewis Perring scored his first hat-trick of the season for Watts Blake Bearne as they beat Brixham AFC Reserves 8-1 at Abbrook Park to go top of the early tables on goal difference.
Billy Clinch and Luke Pellowe also scored in consecutive games with Matt Elmore, Jakeb Heywood-Cann and Sam Peardon scoring their first goals of the campaign for WBB. Jordan Bradshaw found the net for the Fishermen.
Torbay Police were narrowly beaten in an 11-goal thriller at Meadowbrook Athletic.

Liam Collings scored a hat-trick for Brook and there were strikes from Charlie Baxendale, Myles Chalcraft and Thomas Comyn as the hosts scored six times.
Sam Chorley grabbed a brace, Jack Johansen put through his own net and Jamie Bayliss and Marc Hagland both scored as the Bees hit five.
The Windmill FC secured another away win in the South Hams but this week’s scoreline was a lot closer.
Sam Doyle and Tommy Phillips were on target once more for the Plymouth side with substitute Jamie Willmott their other goalscorer in a 3-2 win at Salcombe Town. Ashley Yeoman and Kieran Stallard scored for the Crabs.
Buckfastleigh Rangers have also started well with two wins out of two.
Arren De Young, Finn Graham and Daniel Hughes struck for Rangers in a 3-1 home win over Ivybridge Town Reserves, Ryan McNaught with the Ivies’ consolation.
East Allington United suffered another heavy defeat as they went down 7-1 at Ipplepen Athletic.
A Mitchell Medlen goal and an Ashley White penalty saw Plympton Athletic Reserves pick up their first win of the season, 2-1 away at Newton Abbot ‘66.
Goals from Beck Hannah and Tre Hansford helped Buckland Athletic Development do the same away at Elburton Villa Reserves, Jake Beer on target for the second time in as many games for the hosts.
A second win and clean sheet sees Galmpton United head Division One.
The Greens put six past Upton Athletic at Armada Park with Carl Bradley marking his first start with a hat-trick. Liam Ford, Callum Nightingale and substitute Cally Riley-Lowe also celebrated goals.
United are joined on six points by Kingsteignton Athletic Reserves and Abbotskerswell.
Goals from Nathan Isaac, Tom Reeves and Kelsey Leech had the Rams three up at half-time against Paignton Villa Reserves. A goal from Aaron Paget and a second from Isaac after the break, sealed the 5-0 triumph.
It was a closer affair at Abbots Park where Abbotskerswell overcame neighbours Kingskerswell and Chelston 2-1.
Bishopsteignton United raced into a two-goal lead in their Division Two game against Ilsington Villa, only to be roundly beaten by the end of the afternoon.
Hat-tricks from Jack Dixon and Dan Langford, two goals from sub George Harris and a Tom Rush penalty saw Villa win the game 9-2! Newton Rovers and Ipplepen Athletic Reserves join Villa at the top of the table.
Jake Cogavin and Kyle Willoughby netted as Rovers won 2-1 at Broadhempston. Despite scoring 13 the previous week, Torquay Town drew a blank as they lost 4-0 at home to Pens.
Goals from Damien Sobota and Shaun Langdon helped Brixham Town to back-to-back wins in Division Three as they won 2-0 at Babbacombe Corinthians Reserves.
Meanwhile, Jordan Baxter scored four times for Galmpton Reserves who won 5-0 at home to Chudleigh Athletic Thirds to maintain their winning start.
Totnes and Dartington Reserves complete the top three following their 5-3 victory at home to Liverton United Reserves.
