The annual Artex exhibition, organised by Ashburton and Buckfastleigh Rotary in the grounds of Buckfast Abbey, is running until Saturday, August 13.

The free exhibition showcases the work of local artists, showing oils, watercolours, pastels and acrylics, framed and unframed pictures, all originals and many artists also selling cards showing their prints.

Artex had a very successful preview evening last Wednesday, welcoming guests and artists. Guests were tempted to buy and three framed pictures and three unframed were sold on the night.

This year there are entries from 77 artists, exhibiting 322 paintings, 78 unframed originals and 30 of the artists are also selling cards, up to 40 each, depicting their pictures.

There is a raffle for a chance to win the lovely Poppy picture, painted by John Turk.

Diana Lewis, one of the exhibiting artists who attended, pledged to give one of her paintings as a raffle prize for next year’s Artex.
