Powerhouse of brass set for concert at Torbay jazz club
The Brass Monkeys - an eclectic brass band influenced by jazz, blues, reggae, country, free improvisation, soul and folk - appear at Fougou Jazz club, Paignton, on September 14.
With a line-up of two trumpets, French horn, two trombones, tenor sax, tuba and drums, this group is a powerhouse of brass that reflects an exciting mix of youth and experience.
They are set to perform an exciting mix of original material and unusual classics.
Fougou Jazz, based at Preston Conservative Club, is an independent jazz club, promoting live music and featuring some of the best contemporary live jazz available, supporting local, regional and touring UK and international artists.
From this month, they will be based at Preston Conservative Club providing a relaxed and a friendly atmosphere with excellent acoustics.
The venue gives jazz lovers the chance to be up close and personal with the musicians - the audience can see every note being played and hear and experience every subtle nuance of the live music performance.
Fougou Jazz provides a varied and exciting programme of live music with concerts of the best modern and contemporary jazz, mostly, but not always, on a Tuesday evening.
The comfortable surroundings also have an excellent bar to compliment the superb live music.
Artists that have already appeared at Fougou Jazz include Paul Mccandless, Mike Westbrook, Henry Lowther’s Still Waters, Asaf Sirkis (Israel), Sue Richardson, Corrie Dick, Allison Adams Tucker (USA) twice, A/B Trio (Canada), Fabio Lepore (Italy), Tassos Spiliotopoulos (Greece), Big Bad Wolf and Jam Experiment to name just a few.
