Overseas star joins Throverton for the new season
Throverton have snapped-up South African all-rounder Jason van der Meulen as their overseas player for the season ahead in the Tolchards DCL A Division.
Van der Meulen is a hard-hitting, top-order batter and medium-quick bowler from Gauteng. The 20-year-old all-rounder currently plays for Randburg CC in the Gauteng Presidents’ League and is known for quickly taking the game away from a bowling attack with his aggressive approach.
His impressive form in T20 cricket earned van der Meulen a place in the Highveld Thunder under-19 franchise side in the Lenasia Premier League.
Jake Choules, the Thorverton skipper, said van der Meulen’s seam bowling makes him a genuine all-rounder in all formats of the game.
“Jason is a batting all-rounder who, I am hoping, can bat consistently in the top four for us as well as bolstering the bowling attack,’ said Choules.
