Torbay Weekly

A band of merry triathletes headed to Nottingham for the long-distance Outlaw Triathlon.

Months of dedication and commitment to their training programmes saw Nigel Fenn, Steve Donnelly and Cathy Parkinson well prepared and ready to face a gruelling 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile marathon run.

All smiles from start to finish line, the trio produced fantastic times across the three disciplines with Steve Donnelly first home from the club in 11.37.08, followed by Nigel Fenn in 12.15.20 and Cathy Parkinson in 12.52.01, who also claimed an impressive second place in her age group.

They were joined by Nick Cull, Rachel Carter and Richard Humphreys who formed a relay team to cover the same distance.

After a very speedy swim, Nick even swapped his swim for a bike in another relay team!

The Torbay Tri relay team completed their race in 12.18.13

Simon Swift and Linda Hope Bracher enjoyed a summer trip to the Cotswold Lake 62 Summer Standard Triathlon.

Taking on a 1,500m lake swim, 39k bike and 10.5k run, the duo raced their way around the course in 2.49.13 and 3.20.15 respectively.

The popular Erme Valley Relays attracted nearly 90 teams, with Torbay Tri Club fielding three teams.

Runners of all speeds enjoyed a thrilling night of racing with Torbay’s teams placed in fifth, 28th and 72nd overall, and Jason Hurford achieving the club’s fastest leg of the night in 13m 27s.
