Our Lynn is simply inspirational

South Devon College’s Lynn Stephens is simply inspirational.

The Devon Women in Business Awards took place and is where the region’s greatest businesswomen and female leaders come together to celebrate the achievements and success of each other.

Lynn Stephens, who is the college’s senior head of curriculum currently overseeing a skills development project in the hospitality and catering sector in response to rebuilding after Covid-19, took the crown as ‘Inspirational Leader’ after numerous nominations.

She is well known to local businesses for her work in developing opportunities and training across the sport, leisure and tourism Industry.

In 2019 she led her team to victory at the National Apprenticeship awards, for outstanding contribution to the development of apprenticeships.

She had also presented on the impact of apprenticeship standards to MPs at Westminster.

For the last two years Lynn has been Chair of the Destination Management Plan group which brings together key stakeholders to drive opportunities for the English Riviera.

The awards evening was hosted by Louise Jenner, also known as the Dream Job Coach. She explained: “According to her peers, Lynn is hands down one of the most passionate people you will ever meet when it comes to advancing training and opportunities in the sport, leisure and hospitality industries.

“She gives up a significant amount of time to the community, chairing the English Riviera Destination Management group, doing consultancy work for YMCA fitness awards, as well as finding time to lead two fitness classes a week for her colleagues!

“Lynn has spent years advocating equality in the workplace and promoting equal opportunities and supporting people to achieve their goals and future career aspirations.

“Lynn truly is an inspiring leader to so many people.”

Lynn said she is delighted to receive this recognition, particularly as it highlights Women in Business. She said: “The training and development opportunities I have personally undertaken at South Devon College and University Centre South Devon, have really helped my career path. I would highly recommend lifelong learning to anyone who wants to progress and open new doors for themselves.”
