One-off Babbacombe Theatre show to celebrate Queen's Platinum Jubilee

The Babbacombe Theatre is presenting a one-off performance, the Big Big Jubilee Show, celebrating the Queen’s reign of 70 years.

The show plays for one afternoon only on Saturday, June 4, at 3pm.

The show will be hosted by Torbay’s very own Steve Laister, who is the UK’s only winner of Sir Norman Wisdom’s Award for Comedy Excellence.

Special guests for the show include Welsh legend Phil Doyle, who is one of the most sought-after comedy vocalists and spends 40 weeks of the year performing on the world’s largest cruise lines and theatre stages.

Alongside Steve and Phil, there will be five vocalists Lindsey Collard, Holly Cosgrove, Geri Law, Lucy Samuels, and Sophie Beresford.

They will be bringing a variety of popular songs that will be sure to take you on a journey down ‘Memory Lane’, bringing glitz and glamour and sensational renditions of some of the nation’s favourite songs.

Steve Jones, musical director and well-respected pianist, who has backed most major household names, will be a particular asset to the show, performing live on stage and bringing his electric energy.

The show will be built around the best of British talent from the last 70 years, including songs made famous by Matt Monro, Sir Norman Wisdom, Cliff Richard, Elton John, Rod Stewart, The Beatles, Shirley Bassey, Status Quo, Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Spice Girls, Robbie Williams and many more.

The show will be over two hours of laughter and song, culminating in a huge finale of ‘Pomp and Circumstance’, where the audience will be invited to sing along to everything from Jerusalem to Land of Hope and Glory.

The theatre team invites the audience to wear red, white, and blue and, of course, bring their own Union flags.

The show is not suitable for children. It has been written for the oldies by the oldies!
