Ollie waiting for England call-up call
South Devon striker Ollie Watkins is one phone call away from earning a place in the England squad for next month's Euro 2020 Finals.
Torquay-born Aston Villa forward Watkins, who grew up in Newton Abbot and attended South Dartmoor Community College, was named by England manager Gareth Southgate in his provisional 33-man roster.
Now the former Exeter City and Brentford star, who supported the Gulls as a boy alongside his friend Jamie Reid, has to keep everything crossed that he makes Southgate's 26-man 'cut' next Tuesday.
Watkins, who has scored 16 goals since Villa paid £28 million for him last summer, marked his England debut with a goal against San Marino (5-0) in March.
He said: "It's everyone's dream to play for their country, and to be involved in a major tournament as well would top it off."
