Official TCS South Devon Football League Annual Review goes on sale

Torbay Weekly

The eighth edition of the official TCS South Devon Football League Annual Review has been published.

Torbay Weekly TCS South Devon Football League correspondent Neil Hocking first started writing the annual reviews because he thought it was a good way to make use of a season's worth of match reports - and the old handbooks were being phased out.

Neil said: "I felt like I wanted to do something to preserve the history of local football in something a bit more solid than bits and bytes.

"I was inspired by the world football yearbooks that I used to get as a teenager and also the Non-League Football Yearbook that Tony and Mike Williams create.

"Mike was manager at Loddiswell when I first started covering the league.

"I first started writing the annual review for the 2012/13 season and sold around 30 copies but ever since I've been at least a season behind schedule so I have not really promoted the books - although I do have a guy from Newport, Wales who I give a free copy to every season.

"Ironically, Covid has helped me to catch up due to the reduced football over the last two seasons.

"While this season's book is a little smaller than usual at around 150 pages, it still contains a decent amount of content, covering the TCS SDFL Champions League-style tournament, a round-up of the league games played between October and December and the progress of our teams in the Devon FA county cups.

"There are plenty of photographs throughout."

The book costs £6.99 through and £1 goes to the league for every copy sold. And £1 also goes to Ali Macphee of Miracle PR who provides most of the photographs for the books so it's a good way to support Ali for the amazing work he does for the league every season.

"We wouldn't get nearly as much quality press coverage as we do if it wasn't for Ali."

The book can be bought at or simply search for 'Football' on the website and it should pop up.
