No packed lunches but six weeks of bad weather!

Torbay Weekly

Firstly, I’d like to apologise in advance for the next six weeks of my column - they may contain expletives and many moans and groans, the reason will become apparent.

This week, I’m full of joy as the kids have broken up for the six weeks' summer holidays - yippee!

It seems like years since they were last at home. My backside. They were only off for half-term last week, is everyone else in a different time zone? No? Oh, it’s just me.

I guess there is a bonus to summer holidays - no packed lunches. But the downside is we are guaranteed six weeks of rain, sibling quarrels and parents haemorrhaging cash to keep the little darlings amused.

Another bonus - don’t need to water the plants, you see every cloud!

I’ve had an issue with my car this week, it only cost £90 to find out what the problem was before I was told it would be another £440 to fix it. Happy days.

Actually, the whole experience was unpleasant, so much so I have actually complained about it, which is something I say I’m going to do but then never actually get around to doing it.

It’ll be interesting to see if anything comes from complaining. Knowing my luck - no.

Anyone watching the Olympics?

I haven’t as yet and I didn’t see the opening ceremony.

I think I have been too traumatised after the Euros - I'm not sure I can face my hopes being dashed or the excitement.

On a serious note,  a young person I know has been very ill in hospital with Covid and it was touch and go at one point for her, so please do take care - wear the mask and keep sanitising your hands.

Thankfully, she is now awake and off the ventilator but just remember young, old and everyone in between can catch it.

We're half way through the year and that can only mean one thing... Christmas is almost here!

Christmas movies are on the TV, cards will be creeping into our shops and just like that, boom, another year almost gone.

Happy August everyone (smiley winking face)!
