Gardeners from TOR2 have completed the planting of annual flower seeds in some of the flower beds around Torbay.

Particularly noticeable are the flower beds in the Italian Gardens on Torquay seafront, although they may appear just to have bare soil, the seeds are in fact awaiting germination.

In a few weeks the seeds will bloom into an array of bright colours from 14 different species including marigolds, poppy and cornflower.

Councillor Mike Morey, Torbay Council Cabinet member responsible for environment, said “During the germination period, we would like to ask that the public stay off the planted beds. They should not be walked or cycled across.”

While TOR2 gardeners are working across Torbay, the council would like to reassure the community that this is being undertaken in accordance with the Government’s current social distancing guidelines.
