Liz Lock and Val Davis
Congratulations to Liz Lock from Paignton Bowls Club and her playing partner Val Davis from Kings Bowls Club, as they picked up their Ladies National Senior Pairs trophy at the Bowls England Awards Dinner held at the Doubletree Hilton in Coventry.
Val’s partner Rob Honeywell, along with his Kings club team-mate Phil Hackett picked up the Men’s National Senior Pairs trophy to make it a notable double, as both pairs were the first from Devon to win these prestigious awards.
Devon once again showed their strength in the bowls world, picking up more silverware than any other County, including a marvellous double with their ladies winning both the Walker Cup and John’s Trophy, while the men once again picked up the Middleton Cup.
James Hampton, another of the Kings club’s plethora of stars, was also there to receive the National Pairs title he won with club-mate Sam Tolchard, while the Family Pairs title was won by Topsham’s Gary Howland, playing with his son Grant, now bowling out of Lancashire, after they defeated Torbay Country Club’s father and son pairing of Alan and Gary Routledge.
