Olympic Games mini triathlon comes to Paignton

Inspired by the exciting triathlon action at the Olympics Games in Paris?

Fresh from Team GB's success at the Olympics, now’s your chance to get involved on Saturday, August 17 as Sportiva Events, supported by British Triathlon, Torbay Tri Club and Plymouth Triathlon Club, are hosting a FREE Swim Bike Run Event to celebrate the Games.

Taking place at Torbay Velopark, and the only event of this kind in the South-West, the triathlon is open to everyone, making for the perfect opportunity for beginners of all ages to give the sport a tri. The free event will consist of a swim of 50-150m in the pool at Torbay Leisure Centre, a cycle of 1.5K – 7.5K around the traffic free Torbay Velopark circuit and a run of 650m – 2K on the grass before you celebrate crossing the finish line!

If you fancy getting the whole family involved, then you can even enter the family wave and share the experience of completing a triathlon together. The event promises to offer a fun, inclusive and welcoming environment that inspires you to enjoy the sport. You choose how far you want to go on the day. Lydia Rosling, British Triathlon’s South-West Regional Manager, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to take part in a Swim, Bike, Run event for the first time or as a fun event to do with friends or family. Most people have some experience in one of these sports and this is the perfect occasion to pull them altogether.

The event is free to enter and bike hire is available. What’s more, this event happens monthly at Torbay Leisure Centre which is the ideal venue for beginners and experienced athletes alike. If you are feeling Inspired by the Paris Olympics, why not take the plunge and get involved!”
