Gulls recruit Welsh defender Jay Foulston

Former Yeovil Town defender Jay Foulston has been announced as the first new signing of the Paul Wotton era at Torquay United.

The club’s transfer embargo was only lifted by the National League a couple of days ago and Wotton has moved swiftly to complete the acquisition of Foulston, who helped Yeovil Town win the National League South during a successful loan stint last season.

Foulston, 23, has been capped at U19 level for Wales, having come through the ranks at Newport County. He also played for Merthyr and Chippenham before a switch to Taunton Town.

His arrival is the first of many promised in the coming weeks, as Wotton looks to build a squad ready for the new season.
