Emma Brinsford decided to raise money for Rowcroft Hospice by running in the London Marathon.
But for Emma there were no autumnal weather conditions to deal with in London. She took the 'virtual' route in far-away Hong Kong, completing the run in 32 degrees heat, taking five hours and 45 minutes and raising £1,829 in memory of her husband Stuart Ward.
She said: "It’s hard to put into words the unbelievable work the team at Rowcroft provide, the beautiful grounds, the wider support community and professional counselling services but most of all the exceptionally kind and generous team whose care is exemplary, not only for the patients but the families too.
"From wheeling the daily drinks trolley, gin always served with a smile to checking night after night that you’ve enough pillows and blankets, the team are simply incredible.
"I will forever be grateful to Rowcroft, a place that allows you to create some of the happiest memories during the saddest of times."
She added: "I appreciate that everyone is facing their own tough times, but if anyone has some beer money to spare, I’ve no doubt the team would be very grateful. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/emma-brinsford1”
