Moving home is one of those life experiences that you never forget, even the easier sales and purchases are incredibly stressful and challenging. 
It is a process that can be made a lot more manageable if you have the right estate agent and Ridgewater Sales Director Daniel Hobbin has definitely earned himself a fan club in the form of Lisa Brimicombe and her family.  
After finding the perfect new home, Lisa was struggling to get a sale for their old place, which was holding up the whole process, but the consistent, steady and professional approach from Ridgewater eventually led to completion earlier this week.  
Selling a house is a massive journey for any family and positive lines of communication often makes all the difference.   
“We had the property on the market with three or four other estate agents because we had found a bungalow in Galmpton that we wanted,” said Lisa.  
“We went ahead and bought the bungalow but we were getting nothing for our old place, so we considered the option of renting it out. We spoke to Dan at Ridgewater and he asked what our preference would be.  
“For us, selling the house, which is in Mortimer Avenue in Paignton, was our ideal scenario and Ridgewater took over the sale of the property. From then on, we can’t sing Dan’s praises enough.  
“They initially did a 360-degree virtual tour, so people could do an online tour of the house. Dan is always on the end of the phone, whether it’s 8am or 10pm, they will always keep you informed. 
“Even if there is no news, Ridgewater have constantly kept us updated, which is so important to a seller. If your house is on the market and you get no news, it’s just nice to know what enquiries there have been and a general status update.  
“Our experience with some estate agents has been that the house is on the market but we’ve not heard anything, and you end up having to chase them for information. 
“Selling a house is one of the most stressful experiences you can go through in life and particularly at this current time. Even when we are in full lockdown, Dan has always been at the end of the phone to answer our questions.  
“We’ve now reached the stage of completion and it is a massive relief for us. We can now move on and focus on developing the bungalow, which requires a total revamp. Everything needs replacing and it will be an exciting project when we get started. 
“When you have something of that magnitude on the horizon, it is very difficult to get started while the old house remains unsold. We had two properties to maintain and our old house was a big five-bedroom home, so it needed a lot of work.  
“It has been a long journey for us and Dan honestly feels like he is part of the family now. We couldn’t have done it without his help and I actually felt quite sad when we completed on Monday because we literally speak to each other every day.  
“It is the way it should be and it is definitely not the normal personal approach you get from every agent. Dan has become a family friend because he knows how important it has been to our family. 
“He is also very consistent, always the same in his approach, and that reliability has been fantastic. Ridgewater have been steady, committed and extremely hardworking.  
“I know they’ve opened the new branch in Torquay and we wish them all the luck in the world because they have been brilliant for us.”
